Spain announces regional housing grants and business succession programs
The Galician Housing and Land Institute (IGVS) has announced a 2.83 million euro fund to support housing rehabilitation in the Caminos de Santiago and Ribeira Sacra areas. Owners or usufructuaries can receive up to 12,000 euros for rehabilitating an existing home, or up to 30,000 euros when constructing a new home to replace a demolished one. The program covers up to 50% of eligible costs, with additional incentives for properties with historical protection.
In Extremadura, the regional government has opened a tender for approximately 203,188 euros to design a generational succession program for the self-employed and micro-businesses. Rather than providing direct subsidies, the initiative aims to hire specialized companies to provide consultancy, business valuation, and support to facilitate the transfer of viable businesses from retiring owners to new entrepreneurs.
