Metro line 7 EMT free bus Madrid summer works signalling upgrade

From 2 to 28 August 2026 the Metro line 7 between Gregorio Marañón and Pitis will be closed for a signalling and track‑renewal project costing €33 million. Fourteen stations will be out of service, and the EMT will run a special free bus line SE7, stopping at every closed station with a 7‑minute frequency on weekdays.

The summer works also affect other Metro sections: the line 6 Moncloa station will be closed from 1 August to 2 September, and a technical fault on line 9 caused a two‑hour suspension between Plaza de Castilla and Concha Espina on 30 July. To mitigate these disruptions EMT has deployed up to 24 replacement buses, including a free SE6 service for the line 6 closure, running every six minutes on weekdays and slightly less often on weekends. The coordinated bus operations aim to keep commuter flow functional while the underground upgrades are carried out during the period of lowest passenger demand.
