Spain approves 2.196 billion euros for Navantia naval programs
The Spanish government has approved a financing package of 2.196 billion euros for Navantia to support three naval construction and modernization programs for the Spanish Navy. The funding will be provided through 0% interest repayable loans distributed between 2026 and 2031.
The largest portion, 1.786 billion euros, is allocated to the European Patrol Corvette (EPC) program, which involves the development and construction of six corvettes. This program will be managed through the Organisation for Joint Armament Cooperation (OCCAR).
Additional funds include 210 million euros for the modernization and evolutionary development of Segura class minehunters, and 200 million euros for the update of various surface units and S-80 class submarines. These two programs will be managed directly by the Ministry of Defense.
