Spain approves A-74 coastal highway and Tremor viaduct projects
The Spanish Ministry of Transport and Sustainable Mobility approved the technical design and public information file for the A‑74 highway segment between O Carme and Barreiros in Lugo province. The 6.57 km stretch will link the A‑8 with the San Cibrao port, creating a new high‑capacity corridor. The estimated construction cost is €123.6 million. Government delegate in Galicia Pedro Blanco said the project marks a decisive step for a long‑awaited strategic infrastructure.
The ministry also gave final approval for a new Tremor viaduct on the A‑6 near Torre del Bierzo in León. The 480‑m long, double‑deck concrete structure will replace the existing bridge, improving safety and traffic flow. Construction will use a parallel alignment to minimise disruption, with pillars up to 85.5 m high.
