Spanish government funds road upgrades in Huelva, Castilla y León and Cádiz

The Spanish Council of Ministers approved a €20.42 million investment to maintain and upgrade state roads in the province of Huelva. The funding covers 146 km of routes, including works on the A‑49 autovía, the N‑435 and N‑435A, drainage repairs and safety improvements, with a focus on using electric vehicles and energy‑saving measures.

In Castilla y León, the government authorized a €188.4 million programme to improve about 760 km of national roads and autovías across Burgos, León, Valladolid and Soria. The programme will address highways such as the A‑1, A‑11, A‑66, A‑62 and several national routes, adding surveillance, winter service, communications and maintenance to keep the road network safe and accessible.

The Diputación Provincial de Cádiz launched a complementary contract worth €26 million over five years to reinforce conservation of more than 800 km of provincial roads. The tender will add 58 professionals, enhance signage, drainage, bridge upkeep and emergency response, and introduce a public‑private partnership with a dedicated road‑conservation centre and digital incident‑management tools.
