Spain awards multi-million euro contracts for railway station upgrades in Granada and Valencia
Spain’s railway authority ADIF has officially awarded a €4.1 million contract to the consortium Vázquez Consuegra‑WSP Apia Spain‑Eovastudio for the integration and redesign of Granada’s main train station. The 44‑month project will add a green corridor, a viewpoint overlooking the Alhambra and Sierra Nevada, expand platform capacity, and link the station with the bus terminal to create a new urban hub.
In Valencia, engineering firm Sener Grouppa has released a design proposal for a future Central Station. The plan features a large ceremonial canopy, natural light on all levels, extensive public spaces, and a re‑organized passenger flow that aligns the station with surrounding streets and parks. Although the design has received the highest evaluation score, the contract for the consulting services that will produce the basic and detailed studies is still under tender, and no formal award has been made yet.
