Spain bans US data‑analytics firm Palantir from public contracts

The Spanish government (Moncloa) has instructed public‑sector companies to avoid any contracts with Palantir Technologies, citing concerns that the use of the US‑based data‑analytics platform could jeopardise national sovereignty and security. The directive follows similar moves by France, which announced on 16 June that its interior security agency will replace Palantir with the French firm Chaps Vision, and Germany, where the army’s cyber branch has rejected the use of Palantir’s services.

Palantir responded that its existing contract with the French DGSI remains in force and that it continues to meet high standards of data protection and transparency. The Spanish veto is part of a broader European trend to limit reliance on foreign‑origin technology in critical public‑sector projects.
