Spain battles two separate vegetation fires, mobilising emergency services

A vegetation fire broke out inside a photovoltaic plant near Villamediana in Palencia, prompting the Guardia Civil, local firefighters and medical services to respond. Two people required treatment – one for smoke inhalation and another after fainting – while the cause of the blaze and the extent of damage remain under investigation.

In the Andalusian province of Badajoz, a forest fire erupted in Burguillos del Cerro. The incident activated two forest‑fire units, a helicopter and two aircraft from the regional Plan Infoex, alongside environmental agents. Although the area was classified as low fire‑risk, the fire continued to be fought as conditions worsened across Extremadura.

Both incidents illustrate the coordinated response of Spanish emergency authorities to vegetation fires across different regions on the same day.
