Spain directs major EU and regional funds to Albacete irrigation and Granada digital hubs
The provincial agriculture delegate in Albacete announced that 34.5 million euros of EU funds were allocated to 68 irrigation projects, with 55 projects located in the province. The grants cover roughly 90 % of project costs, supporting the modernization of traditional water channels, protecting over 4,900 hectares, and sustaining the livelihoods of 675 families and more than 6,700 irrigators.
In Andalusia, the regional government highlighted a 42.5 million‑euro investment in the Punto Vuela network since 2022. The newly opened centre in Purullena, Granada, reported 80 activities in the first half‑year, serving 401 visitors. Across the province, 13,698 new users have joined the network and close to 40,000 people accessed its services, reflecting a broader push to bring digital skills, e‑administration and co‑working facilities to rural communities.
