Spain regional development investments

Entities: Falstacen S.L. · Falstacen, S.L. · Peñarroya-Pueblonuevo · Government of Spain · Aldeacentenera Town Council

Overview

In early July 2026 Spain allocated €34.5 million of EU and regional funds to 68 irrigation projects in Albacete, covering about 90 % of costs and supporting 675 families and more than 6,700 irrigators across roughly 4,900 hectares. The same period saw the Punto Vuela digital hub in Purullena, Granada, receive investment to expand co‑working, e‑administration and digital‑skills services; within six months the centre hosted 401 visitors, 13,698 new users joined the network and close to 40,000 people accessed its programmes.

On 23 July the Castilla‑La Mancha government announced a €21 million programme to enlarge its rural‑hostel network, including a €900 000 refurbishment of the 18th‑century La Almazara del Marqués inn in Viso del Marqués. The same day the Aula de la Naturaleza Rancho Novo opened in Novo Sancti Petri, Cádiz, after a €200 000 investment, offering a 9,000‑square‑metre complex for environmental education, an ecogranja and a cultural restaurant with capacity for up to 300 guests.

A week later, on 31 July, €4 million was earmarked to restore the Peñarroya‑Pueblonuevo industrial complex and €50 688 to rehabilitate parcels in Aldeacentenera, aiming to preserve heritage and generate jobs.

On 2 August the central government approved €6.9 million in hotel subsidies for two projects in Granada province—€6.0 million for Fuerte La Herradura in Almuñécar and €0.9 million for Falstacen in Motril—creating 99 jobs. These grants are part of a national programme that has funded 97 projects with more than €281 million, targeting roughly 2,800 new positions across Spain. Together, the successive allocations illustrate a coordinated, multi‑sectoral strategy to modernise agriculture, boost digital inclusion, develop sustainable tourism, provide environmental education and preserve industrial heritage, all aimed at stimulating employment and regional economies.
