Spain electricity prices rise significantly on August 10

Electricity prices in Spain saw a significant increase on Monday, August 10, 2026. The average price for the day was recorded at 181.63 €/MWh, representing a 47.42% rise compared to the previous day.

Under the PVPC (Voluntary Price for the Small Consumer) tariff, electricity costs fluctuate significantly throughout the day. The most affordable period is between 14:00 and 17:00, with the lowest rate occurring from 15:00 to 16:00 at 56.44 €/MWh. Conversely, the highest prices occur in the evening, peaking between 21:00 and 22:00 at 347.32 €/MWh.

The price escalation is attributed to rising international gas prices, which influence combined-cycle power plants, and an increase in the value of carbon dioxide (CO2) emission rights.
