Spain electricity wholesale prices to drop nearly 8% on Wednesday

Wholesale electricity prices in the Spanish market are expected to decrease by approximately 7.89% on Wednesday, August 26, reaching an average of 110.86 euros per megawatt hour (MWh). This follows a Tuesday average of 120.35 euros per MWh.

The day will be characterized by significant hourly volatility. Due to high solar energy production, prices are projected to drop to zero euros per MWh for three hours between 13:00 and 16:00. Other low-cost periods include 11:00 to 12:00 at 2.15 euros per MWh and 12:00 to 13:00 at 0.38 euros per MWh.

In contrast, prices are expected to peak during the early morning hours. The highest rates are forecasted between 00:00 and 01:00 at 207.85 euros per MWh, and between 01:00 and 02:00 at 205.38 euros per MWh. Another high-cost period is expected between 08:00 and 09:00 at 193.52 euros per MWh.
