Spain expands health services: new Alicante center and Andalusian hiring surge
The Valencian health ministry announced a public tender for the construction of a new La Condomina health centre in Alicante. The €11.8 million project will cover about 3,758 m², serve roughly 21,000 residents and include family medicine, paediatrics, dentistry, mental health and rehabilitation facilities. Offers close on 15 July and construction is slated to last 24 months.
The Andalusian Health Service (SAS) unveiled a summer staffing plan that adds 41,639 contracts – a 14 % rise on the previous year – backed by €168 million in funding. The plan raises operative hospital beds to 12,774 (an increase of 1,074) and reserves 2,125 extra beds for rapid activation. Targets include surpassing 6.4 million assisted actions, performing 85,013 surgeries and handling over 3.2 million outpatient visits during the July‑September period.
Both initiatives aim to boost capacity and address seasonal demand in Spain’s public health system.
