Spain expands LED lighting projects in public spaces

Public administrations across Spain are increasingly adopting LED technology to modernize public lighting. These initiatives aim to reduce energy consumption, lower CO2 emissions, decrease maintenance costs, and enhance architectural heritage and public safety.

In Aranda de Duero, the local government has launched a tender for 483 LED luminaires totaling approximately 499,272 euros. This project includes smart management systems with sensors to adjust light intensity based on the presence of people or vehicles. Meanwhile, the Provincial Palace of Toledo has implemented a new artistic LED RGBW lighting system designed to highlight its historical architecture.

In Tarragona, a three-year lighting transformation project between 2023 and 2025 has seen an investment of 2,318,575 euros. This effort has renovated 4,031 lighting points, resulting in an estimated annual energy saving of 2,198,219 kWh and a reduction in annual expenditure of approximately 307,364 euros. The city expects a return on investment within 4.88 years.
