Spain faces rising cyberattacks and targeted malware campaigns

Spanish companies faced a high volume of cyber threats throughout the summer. According to Check Point Research, Spanish organizations recorded an average of 2,068 weekly cyberattacks in July, representing a 1% increase compared to the same month in the previous year. The most affected sectors included government, consumer goods and services, and financial services.

In addition to rising attack volumes, security firm ESET has warned of an intense campaign targeting small and medium-sized enterprises in Spain. This campaign utilizes malware disguised as invoices or quotes to compromise corporate devices and steal credentials. The attacks often employ JavaScript files and the Snake Keylogger to facilitate remote system access, steal browser data, and record keystrokes. Experts note that these attacks are notably active even during holiday periods when many employees are away from their desks.
