Spain: Health and mobility are top concerns regarding aging

According to the first Accessibility Barometer by the Fundación Mutua de Propietarios, health, autonomy, and mobility are the primary concerns for Spaniards facing old age, surpassing economic stability and loneliness.

Data shows that 64% of respondents fear suffering from a chronic illness during old age, and 61% worry about mobility issues. These concerns outweigh fears regarding insufficient money (46%), loneliness (44%), or inadequate pensions (41%).

On average, Spaniards consider age 72 to be the onset of old age, though perceptions vary by generation: individuals aged 18–24 estimate it begins at 66, while those over 65 place it at 76. The study notes that people are thinking about their aging process more frequently than they did four years ago.
