Spain hosts cultural events on Renaissance theater and Hispanic history

Cultural events are scheduled in Spain to celebrate Spanish literary and historical heritage. The tenth edition of the Bartolomé de Torres Naharro International Congress will take place from September 29 to October 1. Organized by the University of Extremadura, the event focuses on 16th-century Spanish theater and the works of playwright Bartolomé de Torres Naharro. Researchers from various universities, including Salamanca, Ferrara, Córdoba, and Lisbon, will participate in discussions regarding Renaissance drama and social inequality.

Additionally, the Teatro Liceo in Salamanca will host a documentary cycle directed by José Luis López-Linares from September 30 to October 2. Part of the 500th anniversary of the School of Salamanca, these films explore the history of the Hispanic community and Spain's role in the first era of globalization. One featured documentary, ‘Spain. The First Globalization’, examines the economic connections between the Spanish monarchy and the Ming dynasty through the silver trade in the late 16th century.
