Spain implements new digital tools for environmental monitoring

New digital tools have been launched in Spain to enhance environmental monitoring and territorial planning. In Andalusia, the Environmental Information Network (Rediam) has released two statistical viewers: the Forest Information Statistical Viewer (Indifo) and the Environmental Constraints Statistical Viewer (Indica). Developed by the Regional Ministry of Sustainability and Environment and the Environment and Water Agency, these tools allow citizens, professionals, and administrations to analyze forest and environmental data using a scalable grid system. They facilitate the identification of protected species, habitats, and flood zones to support environmental impact assessments.

In the Murcia region, the Municipality of Blanca is launching a web platform to provide real-time data from environmental sensors installed throughout the town. The system will monitor air quality and noise levels, converting measurements into accessible graphics and alerts. This initiative aims to improve public transparency and help local authorities make data-driven decisions regarding traffic regulation and public health protections for vulnerable groups.
