Spain implements stricter electric scooter regulations

New traffic regulations for electric scooters and personal mobility vehicles have come into effect in Spain, aimed at improving road safety and coexistence between different types of commuters. Key changes include a minimum age requirement of 15 years for scooter users and the mandatory use of helmets.

To ensure visibility, users must use luminous or reflective elements visible from at least 150 meters during the night or in low-visibility conditions. Additionally, these vehicles are prohibited from circulating on highways, expressways, and certain transit roads.

Public sentiment in Spain reflects strong support for these measures, with a recent survey indicating that 92% of citizens favor a firmer regulatory framework for personal mobility devices to address growing concerns regarding road safety and public order.
