Spain installs solar clock in Zaragoza and launches art expo in Santander ahead of August 12 eclipse

Zaragoza's mayor Natalia Chueca and Fundación Ibercaja unveiled the stainless‑steel solar clock “Polytechnic” on the University of Zaragoza’s Campus Río Ebro. Designed by Teo Ros and Antonio Ros, the four‑dial sculpture combines engineering, architecture, art and astronomy, joining the city’s solar‑clock route that aims to engage residents ahead of the August 12 total solar eclipse.

On the Cantabrian coast, the University of Cantabria and the Institute of Physics of Cantabria (IFCA) opened the exhibition “La noche diurna” on Santander’s promenade. Created by 14 art students, the display illustrates the eclipse’s phases, safety measures and scientific background through illustrated totems, remaining open until 11 August. Both projects seek to raise public awareness of the upcoming eclipse through science‑focused art and installations.
