Spain invests €5.4 million in coastal restoration and sewer reconstruction in Castellón and Alaquàs

The Spanish government’s Ministry for the Ecological Transition has earmarked €1.2 million for emergency works on the beaches of Oropesa del Mar and surrounding municipalities in Castellón province. Sub‑delegate Antonia García Valls inspected the project, which includes sand replenishment, gravel redistribution, and screening of a kilometre of beach to stabilise the coastline after severe storms.

In the Valencian town of Alaquàs, Government delegate Pilar Bernabé and Mayor Antonio Saura oversaw the reconstruction of 6.32 km of sewer infrastructure damaged by a recent “dana” storm. €4.2 million has been allocated for pipe replacement, collector rebuilding and other sanitation works, part of a total €96.6 million investment to make the network more resilient to climate‑related flooding.
