Spain launches emergency water infrastructure projects in Segovia and Andalusia

The Confederación Hidrográfica del Duero (CHD) has begun emergency works to reinforce water supply to Segovia and surrounding municipalities. A 2.4 million‑euro project will pump water from the El Pontón Alto reservoir to the Rancho del Feo drinking‑water treatment plant via a five‑kilometre flexible pipeline, with preparatory clearing and equipment acquisition already underway.

In Andalusia, Endesa and the Junta de Andalucía are jointly assessing short‑ and medium‑term measures to improve the safety of the Montejaque dam after severe storms caused high water levels and temporary evacuations. The utilities are analysing structural solutions to prevent overflow and address cracks that have reduced the dam’s storage capacity, aiming to secure the infrastructure for future rain events.
