Spain launches funding programs for EV charging and renewable manufacturing
Spain’s Ministry for the Ecological Transition and the Demographic Challenge (MITECO) has launched public consultations for two major funding programs aimed at accelerating the energy transition and industrial capacity.
The first program allocates 150 million euros to expand the public electric vehicle charging infrastructure on Spanish highways. Funded by the European Regional Development Fund (ERDF) 2021-2027, the initiative seeks to strengthen charging points along road networks, potentially including heavy vehicles and urban nodes. This follows the Moves program, which previously funded 341 projects.
The second program focuses on the domestic manufacturing of renewable technologies. Managed by the IDAE and funded by the ERDF, this initiative will support the production of equipment and components for batteries, electrical grids, wind energy, renewable hydrogen, solar photovoltaics, and heat pumps. The goal is to increase national industrial capacity and reduce dependence on foreign markets for strategic components essential to decarbonization.
