Spain launches second edition of Chaleco Agricultor awards for agricultural innovation
Expo AgriTech 2026 and the Asociación Agraria de Jóvenes Agricultores (ASAJA) have opened the call for the second edition of the Chaleco Agricultor awards, dubbed the “Michelin stars of agriculture.” The competition, open to all Spanish farmers regardless of farm size, recognises outstanding work in three categories: Innovation in crops and inputs, Sustainability, and Application of technology such as drones, sensors, AI, robotics and smart irrigation.
Applicants must submit proposals by 15 October. One finalist per category will be selected from each province, receiving a commemorative vest and the chance to compete for a national title at the Gran Gala Nacional on 5 November in Málaga, coinciding with Expo AgriTech 2026. The inaugural edition attracted more than 700 submissions and over 50 finalists nationwide, establishing a community that showcases how technological transformation can boost productivity and resource efficiency in agriculture.
