Spain-Mexico U-20 friendly relocated from Ceuta due to migration crisis
The friendly football match between the Spain and Mexico U-20 national teams, originally scheduled for September 30 in Ceuta, has been relocated. Rafael Louzán, President of the Royal Spanish Football Federation (RFEF), announced that the decision follows a recommendation from the Spanish National Police.
The police advised against holding the event in Ceuta due to the exceptional migratory pressure and the current social situation in the autonomous city. While a new venue has not been officially confirmed, Madrid is currently the primary alternative being considered by the federation.
The Ceuta Football Federation has expressed its disagreement with the move, stating that the match would have provided an opportunity to project an image of normalcy for the region.
