The relocation drew criticism from the local government of Ceuta and the Ceuta Football Federation, who argued the city had a right to host national matches and that the event could have served to ‘project an image of normalcy for the region.’

The Spanish squad, managed by Paco Gallardo and composed primarily of the 2007 generation that won the Under-19 European Championship, is scheduled to convene on Sunday night. Training sessions will be held at the Las Rozas Football City on Monday and Tuesday in preparation for the match, which serves as preparation for next year’s Under-20 World Cup in Azerbaijan and Uzbekistan.
