Spain poll shows majority favor early election over no‑confidence motion

A GESOP political survey for Prensa Ibérica finds that 52.2% of Spaniards would prefer an early general election, while 40.9% favour completing the current legislature. The same poll shows 54% of respondents reject a motion of no‑confidence involving Junts, the PP and Vox, compared with 40.6% who support it.

Support for an early election is strongest among PP and Vox voters (around 90%). Among Junts voters, 58.6% back an early vote, whereas 86.8% of ERC supporters prefer to let the term run to July 2027. Regional differences show the Canary Islands (62.2%) and Castile‑La Mancha (61.7%) most in favour of an early election, while the Basque Country and Galicia lean towards completing the term. Demographically, men aged 30‑40 are the most likely to support an early election, with lower backing among women and seniors over 60.

The poll highlights a clear ideological split: roughly eight in ten left‑wing voters want the legislature to finish, while nearly nine in ten right‑wing voters push for dissolution and a new election.
