Spain provides transition compensation for deputies following election call
Following the dissolution of the Cortes Generales on October 5, Spanish deputies face different financial scenarios leading up to the general elections on November 29.
Members of the Permanent Deputation (Diputación Permanente) will continue to receive their full salaries as they maintain parliamentary activity during the period between sessions.
For other deputies not part of this body, the Congress provides a “transition indemnity.” This consists of a single payment equivalent to 52 days of salary, covering the period from the election call until the day before the vote. This ensures economic coverage for representatives until they are replaced by newly elected officials.
