Spain rental prices and income inequality report

Recent data highlights growing economic pressures in Spain, specifically regarding housing costs and income distribution. According to a report from pisos.com, the average rental price in Spain rose by 0.54% in the third quarter, reaching 14.89 euros per square meter. This represents a 7.98% increase compared to the previous year. Experts suggest the market is reaching the limits of what households can afford, driven by a shortage of available housing and high demand from those unable to access home ownership.

Simultaneously, Tax Agency data for 2024 reveals significant wealth disparities across the country. The average gross income per taxpayer rose 6% to 33,239 euros. Income extremes are stark: the wealthiest postal code, La Moraleja in Madrid, reports an average gross income of 235,556 euros, while the poorest district, Torreblanca in Seville, averages only 11,560 euros. Most of the country's highest-income areas are concentrated in the Community of Madrid, followed by Barcelona, A Coruña, and Valencia.
