Spain reports 45,445 digital fraud cases in one year

Digital fraud in Spain has reached 45,445 cases in a single year, representing a 19% increase compared to 2024. According to the National Cybersecurity Institute (INCIBE), 122,223 cybersecurity incidents were managed in 2025, a 26% rise from the previous year.

Online fraud accounted for four out of every ten reported incidents. Phishing alone reached 25,133 cases, while 3,849 incidents involved unauthorized access or theft of confidential information.

In the business sector, social engineering remains a significant threat. Identity impersonation accounted for 18% of corporate inquiries, followed by phishing at 12% and CEO fraud at 9%. Experts note that the period following summer holidays increases vulnerability, as employees may be more susceptible to phishing attempts hidden in accumulated emails or fraudulent notifications regarding expired passwords.
