Spain retirement savings: Only one in four households have a plan
A study by JP Morgan Asset Management reveals that only one in four households in Spain has a defined retirement savings plan. While over 60% of respondents express confidence in maintaining their desired lifestyle—a figure higher than the European average—many lack formal planning.
Key findings indicate that 23% of individuals aged 46 to 61, a critical period for retirement preparation, still lack a plan. Regarding asset allocation, 25% of Spaniards hold most of their savings in cash, 19% in stocks, and only 10% in pension funds. Since 2020, households have accumulated 246 billion euros in liquidity; the report notes that had these funds been invested in global stock markets, their value could have reached approximately 477 billion euros.
