Spain rolls out major video‑surveillance contracts in Badalona and Guadalajara

The Badalona City Council has launched a tender to install 615 video‑surveillance cameras across all neighborhoods and industrial zones, at a cost of about €27 million through 2032. The system will include a control room, a crisis centre and artificial‑intelligence tools to analyse footage. Mayor Xavier García Albiol said, “Badalona will be the first city to install such a large number of cameras at once, because security is one of my priorities.”

Separately, Telefónica España won a provincial tender from the Diputación de Guadalajara to deploy a network of more than 350 video‑surveillance points in 170 rural municipalities, valued at roughly €4.5 million. Each site will host two cameras—one with optical‑character‑recognition for licence‑plate reading and another high‑definition camera—connected via 4G/5G and managed in the operator’s cloud platform to aid the Guardia Civil in crime prevention and detection.
