Spain sees rise in high‑income taxpayers as regional tax agency aids filings

The Agencia Tributaria Valenciana (ATV) helped more than 35,700 residents of the Valencian Community file their 2025 personal income tax (IRPF) returns, an 18.7% increase over the previous campaign. In June alone, 22,988 returns were processed across offices in Valencia, Alicante and Castellón, with 26,639 appointments offered and 24,726 booked. Telephone service handled 9,851 appointments, enabling 8,345 filings, and a partnership with the Instituto Valenciano de Servicios Sociales supported 4,387 declarations for protected persons.

National data from the Spanish tax agency show that 18,829 taxpayers reported earnings above €601,000 in 2024, a 27.8% rise from 2023 and a 78% increase since 2007. Overall, 24,628,279 tax returns were filed, a 2.7% growth year‑on‑year. While high‑income earners represent only 0.08% of all filers, the total number of taxpayers with incomes over €60,000 reached 1,583,185, up 17.6% from the previous year.
