Spain transfers first 800 million euros of State Housing Plan to regions
Spain’s Ministry of Housing and Urban Agenda has transferred the first 800 million euros of the 2026-2030 State Housing Plan to Spain’s autonomous communities. This initial installment is part of a total 7,000 million euro investment planned over the next four years to boost public housing, protect affordable homes permanently, and fund property rehabilitation.
Regional distributions vary, with Andalusia receiving 136.8 million euros and Galicia receiving 45.6 million euros. While the central government describes the move as a coordinated response to the housing crisis, some regional administrations have expressed concerns. The Xunta de Galicia criticized the funding model, claiming it requires significant co-financing from the region and was implemented without sufficient dialogue.
To ensure transparency, the Ministry has activated a public information process to regulate monitoring and evaluation mechanisms. This includes a common information exchange system to produce quarterly and annual reports on the progress and fulfillment of the plan’s objectives.
