Spain university students living with parents at 51.2%

A report by the Fundación CYD, based on the Eurostudent 8 study, reveals that 51.2% of university students in Spain live with their parents. This figure is among the highest in Europe, surpassed only by Azerbaijan, Georgia, and Malta.

The study highlights several socioeconomic trends among Spanish students, including a high level of economic dependence on families and a lower use of university residences compared to European averages. Sharing apartments is identified as the primary method of independence for many students.

Additionally, the data shows that 14.6% of students come from families where parents have only completed compulsory education, a rate double the European average. Conversely, only 28.9% of students have parents with university degrees, compared to a European average of approximately 50%.
