Spain wildfires evacuate over 100,000 residents
Massive wildfires have engulfed the Madrid region of Spain, scorching an area eight times the size of Bucharest. More than 100,000 people, including a large number of Romanian residents, were ordered to evacuate. Many sought shelter at the Las Rosas stadium while smoke and heat caused widespread panic.
Authorities warn that a heat wave with temperatures above 40 °C will continue through the weekend, hampering firefighting efforts and increasing the risk of further evacuations.
