Spain's 2026 vehicle registrations surge, driven by cars and trucks

In the first half of 2026 Spain’s vehicle market showed strong growth. New passenger‑car registrations reached 128,400 units in June, a 7.8% rise year‑on‑year, marking the fourth consecutive month over 100,000 units and putting the six‑month total at about 648,000, up 6.2% from 2025. The increase was led by electrified models, which accounted for 23.2% of June sales.

Truck registrations also climbed, with a more than 13% rise in the first half of the year compared with the same period in 2025. The growth reflects renewed investment in modernising fleets, supported by lower interest rates, public subsidies for low‑emission vehicles and strong demand for freight services.

Industry spokespeople said the trends suggest the Spanish market could exceed 1.2 million new‑car registrations for the full 2026 year and that the trucking sector will continue to expand as companies replace aging vehicles with greener alternatives.
