In July 2026 Spain kept its registration momentum, with the Directorate General of Traffic reporting 647,711 new cars in the first half of the year – a 6.2 % year‑on‑year increase – and electrified models accounting for roughly a quarter of sales, up 37.9 % from the previous year. Used‑car sales slipped 12.5 % year‑on‑year to 156,810 units, with a modest 0.85 % rise from June; the year‑to‑date used‑car total reached 1,048,438, 4.5 % lower than a year earlier. Toyota remained the top brand (7,101 new registrations), followed by Fiat and Volkswagen; the most‑registered used models were the Volkswagen Gol/Trend, Toyota Hilux and Chevrolet Corsa.

Importers recorded 5,333 new‑car registrations, with Chinese‑origin BYD leading at 996 units, underscoring growing competition from Chinese brands. Industry leaders called for fiscal incentives to support the sector amid the sharp slowdown.

The two‑wheel market expanded sharply, with motorcycle registrations up 30.4 % year‑on‑year to 71,217 units in July and 511,986 for the first seven months, a 41.9 % increase. Honda led with 15,209 units, followed by Gilera and Motomel.
