Spain's A‑15 highway extension in Soria reaches 18% completion as Ceuta power link nears finish

The Fuensáuco‑Villar del Campo section of the A‑15 highway continuation in Soria has certified works worth €17.61 million, putting execution at about 18% of the €99.3 million budget. The contract, signed in March 2024 with a joint venture of Padecasa and Vías y Construcciones, aims for service entry by mid‑2029, though other sections of the A‑15 remain stalled due to administrative delays and lack of funding.

In Ceuta, the submarine electricity cable connecting the city to the Spanish peninsula is in its final stage. Endesa has built a new sub‑station, and the only remaining steps are final technical tests and administrative authorisation, which officials expect to complete before the end of the year. A brief delay occurred when a cable joint was replaced to meet quality standards, adding a few months to the schedule. The project, costing several hundred million euros, will allow the power grid to be supplied directly from the mainland and provide rapid activation in emergencies.
