Groundforce, a subsidiary of the Globalia group, serves numerous airlines including Air Europa, Lufthansa, Air France, KLM, Qatar Airways, Turkish Airlines, United Airlines and others. The industrial action is expected to disrupt about 11,600 scheduled flights and up to 2.4 million seats, affecting roughly two million passengers between August and September. The Ministry of Transport and Sustainable Mobility has set minimum service levels ranging from 35 % to 80 % of normal operations depending on route type.

This is the second strike at the airport this year; a March walk‑out was organized by CCOO, UGT and USO. Groundforce has not responded to media inquiries about the dispute.
