Spain's Andalusia and Aragon end wildfire emergencies

The Junta de Andalucía has lifted the emergency phase of the Plan Infoca after stabilising a forest fire in Grazalema. The blaze burned about 222 hectares, prompting the preventive evacuation of 188 people; 92 residents returned on Monday and the remaining evacuees have now been allowed to go home. Authorities say the fire is stabilised but hotspots remain, so fire‑fighting crews, including ground units, autobombas, a bulldozer and helicopters, will stay on site until the fire is fully extinguished.

In Aragon, the regional government raised the emergency level to two for a fire in Castillonroy, Huesca, after it consumed roughly 100 hectares. The president requested assistance from the Unidad Militar de Emergencias, which deployed a battalion and additional resources. Roads A‑140 and N‑230 were closed, a preventive confinement was ordered for the nearby town of Albelda, and several firefighting brigades, helicopters and amphibious aircraft were mobilised to combat the blaze.
