Spain's August 12 Solar Eclipse Attracts Czech Tourists

A total solar eclipse will occur on 12 August 2024, visible across thirteen regions of Spain. Major cities such as Oviedo, Santander, León, Bilbao, Zaragoza, Valencia and Palma will experience the full eclipse, while the rest of the country will see a partial phase. The phenomenon will also be observable as a partial eclipse from many parts of Europe, including the Czech Republic.

Czech travelers are planning trips to watch the event. A return flight from Prague to Valencia costs around 4,200 CZK, and a modest one‑bedroom hotel in the city is priced at roughly 2,000 CZK per night. Visitors are advised to use proper eclipse‑filter glasses for safe viewing. The official Spanish tourism website notes that the eclipse will begin in Galicia at 19:31 CEST and conclude on the Balearic Islands at 19:38 CEST.

Future eclipses are also mentioned: a second total eclipse will cross southern Spain on 2 August 2025, with visibility from locations such as Tarifa, Ceuta and Melilla, and a rare annular eclipse is expected on 26 January 2028.
