Spain's Buñol and Castilla y León Cut Dependency Processing Times

The municipal Social Services department in Buñol announced that it has reduced the evaluation period for new dependency applications to just over a month, processing cases filed on 1 June 2026. The team handled 94 applications in the first half of 2026 after reinforcing staff with three social workers, an educator, a psychologist and administrative personnel. Local officials said the faster response improves quality of life for families needing support.

In the autonomous community of Castilla y León, the regional government reported an average resolution time of 120 days for dependency files, the second‑shortest period in Spain and well below the national average of 314 days. The region also has one of the lowest pending‑case rates at 4.2 % and a small “dependency limbo” share of 2.5 %. These figures keep Castilla y León within the legal maximum of 180 days and contrast with a national backlog of over 255,000 waiting individuals.
