Spain's car fleet average age climbs to 14.6 years in 2025

The 2025 ANFAC Annual Report shows Spain's passenger‑car fleet has aged further, with the average vehicle now 14.6 years old. Almost half of the 26.7 million cars on the road are over 15 years old, and two‑thirds are older than ten years. Regional gaps are stark: Madrid, the Valencian Community, Catalonia and the Balearic Islands have the youngest fleets (around 11‑14 years), while Ceuta and Melilla record the oldest average at 17.9 years.

In the Navarre region, the average age is even higher at 15.8 years, with 54.6 % of cars exceeding 15 years—well above the national average. For every new car registered, Navarre sees 2.94 older cars remaining in circulation, compared with 1.19 nationally, slowing fleet renewal and hindering EU emissions targets. Environmental labels remain dominated by the older C and B categories, and 28.1 % of Navarre's cars still lack any label.

Electrified vehicles remain a small fraction of the total: 2.4 % nationally and 6.3 % in Navarre, though both regions report double‑digit growth in electric and plug‑in hybrid registrations.
