Spain's agricultural subsidies total €2.4bn as new fertilizer aid list released

The Spanish government's Common Agricultural Policy (PAC) payments for the 2024 campaign amounted to more than €2.394 billion nationwide, reaching 596,306 beneficiaries. In Castilla‑La Mancha, 91,711 farmers and livestock holders received a total of €347.55 million, with an average direct payment of €4,002 per beneficiary.

The Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food (MAPA) published a list of 424,593 farmers eligible for fertilizer subsidies, covering €607.19 million. The aid, funded by the Middle‑East crisis response plan, allows up to €92.50 per hectare for irrigated crops and €38.33 per hectare for rain‑fed crops, with a deadline for acceptance between 7 and 27 July.

In Castilla y León, the government added €230 million of additional support for agriculture and fisheries, bringing the total regional aid to €1.107 billion. Measures include an expanded fertilizer subsidy, a diesel discount of up to €0.20 per litre until 30 September, and a €500,000 call for projects by rural women’s associations.
