Spain's CGPJ reviews disciplinary case against Judge Juan Carlos Peinado
Spain's Consejo General del Poder Judicial (CGPJ) will examine whether to open a disciplinary file against judge Juan Carlos Peinado after he suggested that police escorts could facilitate a possible escape of Begoña Gómez. The Permanent Commission has referred Peinado's latest ruling to the Promoter of Disciplinary Action, who will decide if his comments constitute a "serious breach of consideration" under the judicial disciplinary code.
Separately, Begoña Gómez's lawyer has lodged a complaint with the CGPJ alleging that her right of defense was violated because precautionary measures—including passport withdrawal and travel bans—were not formally notified to her legal counsel, only disclosed through the media. The complaint asks the CGPJ to order an inspection of the court procedures and to take any necessary corrective actions.
