Spain’s coastal resorts near full occupancy for August
Reservation platform eBooking reports that Spain’s leading seaside destinations are almost completely booked for the start of August. Marbella tops the list with 99% of rooms already reserved, followed by Santander at 98%. Benidorm and Salou each show 97% occupancy, while Puerto de la Cruz reaches 95%. Palma de Mallorca lags behind with 88%.
Across the six municipalities examined – Marbella, Santander, Benidorm, Salou, Puerto de la Cruz and Palma de Mallorca – the average occupancy for hotels, hostels, apartments and campsites is 95.6% for the first weekend of August (31 July–2 August). eBooking’s director Toni Raurich expects the figures to approach 100% in the coming days, continuing a decade‑long trend of record‑high summer demand driven largely by Spanish travellers.
The near‑full bookings signal a strong domestic tourism season, reinforcing the sector’s contribution to local economies along the Spanish coast.
