Spain's CSIF union pushes for stricter sanctions on temporary contracts and equal residence benefits

The Central Sindical Independiente y de Funcionarios (CSIF) is demanding that the Spanish government impose exemplary sanctions on public‑administration officials who misuse temporary employment contracts. The union calls for immediate filling of all structural posts, shorter selection procedures, and the elimination of the replacement‑fee system to improve job stability in the public sector.

CSIF also alleges discrimination in the government's recent decree on partial retirement, which plans a review of the residence‑supplement only for the Balearic Islands. The union says the exclusion of the Canary Islands, Ceuta, Melilla, and other regions violates equality for thousands of public‑sector workers and urges the extension of the review to all territories. It repeats its demand for broader regulation of partial retirement for civil servants and statutory staff, especially in health services.
