Spain’s gasoline prices vary widely across stations on June 27, 2026

On Saturday 27 June 2026, the average fuel prices in Spain were €1.44 per litre for 95‑octane gasoline, €1.62 for 98‑octane gasoline and €1.51 for diesel, according to the Ministry for the Ecological Transition’s geoportal. Prices differed markedly by retailer and region. Chains such as Costco, Alcampo, Ballenoil, Plenergy, Superco and Petroprix offered some of the lowest rates, with examples like Costco in Zaragoza selling 95‑octane gasoline at €1.321 /L and diesel at €1.343 /L. In major cities, per‑litre prices ranged from about €1.30 to €1.62, reflecting autonomous‑community taxes, local competition and proximity to ports.

The rise in fuel costs has reignited debate over whether governments should cut fuel taxes to ease the burden on households and small businesses. While tax reductions could provide immediate relief, officials warn that such cuts would reduce public revenues at a time of tight budgets and could create expectations of permanent subsidies. Proposals being discussed include temporary tax suspensions, targeted discounts for professional drivers and low‑income families, and stronger price‑monitoring mechanisms.
