Spain's Ibex 35 climbs past 19,800 amid oil price drop

The Ibex 35 index on the Madrid Stock Exchange rose 1.1% to 19,795.30 points, brushing the 19,800‑point level. The rally came as oil prices fell sharply, with Brent down 6.8% to $90.2 a barrel and U.S. WTI down 6.5% to $83.6, a move attributed to progress in talks between the United States and Iran.

Corporate news on the session included Línea Directa reporting a first‑half net profit of €52.09 million, a 19% increase year‑on‑year. Acciona Energía announced the sale of a 361‑MW wind‑farm portfolio in Spain to Portugal’s Galp for €432 million, a debt‑free transaction. Banco Sabadell launched a share‑repurchase programme worth up to €331 million, intended for later capital reduction. Repsol was the biggest loser early in trading, down 2.9%, while IAG, Grifols and Inditex posted the strongest gains.
